Lufthansa Controlling-Teamleiterin Angela Saloch hilft in ihrem Gesundheitsamt Lufthansa Controlling Team Leader Angela Saloch helps in her health department

Angela Saloch, Teamleiterin Controlling Flight Ops & TFM, Deutsche Lufthansa AG, gehört zum Leitungsteam des ICV-Fachkreises „Future of Work“.

Also beruflich keine so große Umstellung?

Bleiben Sie gesund!

Angela Saloch, Team Leader Controlling Flight Ops & TFM, Deutsche Lufthansa AG, is part of the management team of the ICV expert work group “Future of Work”. For several months she has helped in the health department of her district. We interviewed her about it.

How does a Controlling Team Leader at Lufthansa get a second job in the health department?

With the first lockdown, short-time work also began for us, and at the same time, the Group management appealed to employees with medical training to help the healthcare system if possible.

And you have a medical education?

Yes, I once learned to be a hygiene inspector and before my studies and my time at Lufthansa I also worked in a health department.

What tasks do you now do in the health department?

Since June I have worked in Bad Homburg in the corona team of the health department of the Hoch-Taunus-Kreis. I have to deal with the entire range of tasks in connection with the corona pandemic, especially contacting people who have tested positive, discussing the relevant rules of conduct and identifying and following up contact persons.

Do controlling skills help?

Yes, some things actually fit very well: from organizational and PC office skills to communicative skills. It is important to gain information here on a daily basis and, on the other hand, to bring information to the people. We have to provide information about a personally difficult, new situation and explain how it will now proceed; acceptance for the measures must be created.

How do the people react?

That is undoubtedly always bad news. Most of the people I call acknowledge what needs to be done, and sometimes I even experience gratitude from them for what I have done. Of course there are also difficult people. I try all the more to explain everything precisely to them, because knowledge increases the willingness to adhere precisely to the restrictions placed on them.

So not such a big change professionally?

I can use a lot of my main job well. But the change is fundamental: In my job at Lufthansa we say, wherever possible: “People, fly, because flying is safe!”, But at the health department my job is to make it clear to them: “Stay at home!”

Ms. Saloch, thank you for talking to us. Respect for what you do. Stay healthy!
