Die Premiere ist gelungen: Zum ersten Mal wurde der ICV Congress der Controller komplett online angeboten. Mit Live-Streams, Live-Chat-Fragen und abwechslungsreichen Live-Talks; mit Online-Treffen, die über das übliche Chatten hinausgehen; und mit einem Controllers Biergarten-Quiz rund um die fast 50jährige Geschichte des ICV. Die Rückmeldungen der mehr als 400 Teilnehmenden während und nach der Veranstaltung waren durchweg positiv. Der ICV hat damit gehalten, was der Vorstandsvorsitzende Prof. Dr. Heimo Losbichler bei der Eröffnung angekündigt hatte: „Wir wollen wieder Maßstäbe setzen“.
Live aus dem Congress-Studio im bayerischen Etterschlag führte er gemeinsam mit dem Organisationsteam des 45. Congresses eineinhalb Tage lang durch aktuelle Themenfelder wie digitaler Wandel, Transformation und Disruption, Künstliche Intelligenz, Nachhaltigkeit, Zukunft der Arbeit und Performance Management. Führende Unternehmen wie DHL, Deutsche Bahn, BASF, A1 Telekom Austria, Wilhelm Gienger KG und Zeppelin GmbH gewährten dabei Einblicke in ihre Arbeit.
Langfristige Trends und Herausforderungen der Post-Covid-Ära im Fokus
In seiner Eröffnungsansprache verwies Losbichler auf einen von Wirtschaftsforschern nach der Pandemie erwarteten „historischen Aufschwung“: „Manager und Controller fragen sich, mit welchen Maßnahmen sie die Krise meistern und daraus gestärkt hervorgehen können. Parallel zur unmittelbaren Krisenbewältigung gilt es, sich für die Zeit danach zu rüsten und Strategien für den Aufschwung zu entwickeln“, so der ICV Vorsitzende. „Mit unserem Congress-Programm richten wir ganz klar den Blick nach vorne und geben Impulse für die Unternehmenspraxis.“
Losbichler fügte hinzu: „Die Frage, wie es weitergeht und wie der Restart erfolgen wird, beschäftigt uns mehr denn je. Die allseits geforderte Planungssicherheit wird es dabei aber nicht geben.“ Jetzt gelte es, nach dem „kurz getakteten Tunnelblick des Krisenmanagements“ langfriste Trends und Herausforderungen der Post-Covid-Ära in den Mittelpunkt zu rücken, „mit den zentralen Themen digitale Transformation und Nachhaltigkeit.“
Die digitale Veranstaltungsplattform hat den Controlling-Experten und Managern auch in der 45. Ausgabe des Congresses der Controller Möglichkeiten geboten, sich in bewährter Intensität auszutauschen. „Gerade in unsicheren Zeiten wie heute ist der Erfahrungsaustausch besonders wichtig“, betonte der ICV-Vorsitzende und brachte seine große Freude über die hohe Teilnehmerzahl zum Ausdruck. Die mehr als 400 Teilnehmenden dürfen sich nicht nur über einen gelungenen Online-Congress mit viel Abwechslung und Input freuen. Sie können sich noch bis einschließlich 15. Mai „on demand“ alle Inhalte des diesjährigen Congresses anschauen und haben damit einen klaren Vorteil zum sonst üblichen Präsenztreffen: Unter anderem können erstmals alle parallel stattfindenden Themenzentren im Nachgang miterlebt werden.
Robert Bosch GmbH gewinnt den Controlling Excellence Award 2021
Im Rahmen des Congresses wurde auch wieder der ICV Controlling Excellence Award verliehen. Die Auszeichnung für das Jahr 2021 ging an die Robert Bosch GmbH für das Konzept „Controller of the Future – People make the Difference!“. Das Technologie- und Dienstleistungsunternehmen überzeugte mit der Entwicklung neuer Controller-Rollen als Unterstützung für die eigene Transformation. Der ICV würdigte außerdem ein Projekt von A1 Telekom Austria, „Finance Analytics @ A1 Austria“, ein Prozess zur Einführung von Advanced Analytics, sowie das Projekt „Einführung eines Produkt Lifecycle Controllings im Segment Robotics der KUKA“ der KUKA Deutschland GmbH.
Nach dem Congress ist vor dem Congress
Die Vorbereitungen für das nächste große Treffen der europäischen Controlling-Community laufen bereits an. Der 46. Congress der Controller wird am 9./10. Mai 2022 stattfinden, wenn möglich wieder in München. Auch die Jury des ICV Controlling Excellence Awards ist bereit für neue Bewerbungen. Einsendeschluss für die Bewerbung um den mit 3.000 Euro dotierten Preis ist der 31. Januar 2022.

The premiere was a success: For the first time, the ICV Congress of Controllers was offered completely online. With live streams, live chat questions and varied live talks; with online meetings that go beyond the usual chatting; and with a Controllers’ Beer Garden quiz about the almost 50-year history of the ICV. The feedback from more than 400 participants during and after the event was consistently positive. The ICV has followed the opening words of the Chairman of the Board, Prof. Dr. Heimo Losbichler: “We want to set standards again”.
Live from the Congress studio in Etterschlag, Bavaria, he and the organization team of the 45th Congress spent a day and a half through current topics such as digital change, transformation and disruption, artificial intelligence, sustainability, the future of work and performance management. Leading companies such as DHL, Deutsche Bahn, BASF, A1 Telekom Austria, Wilhelm Gienger KG and Zeppelin GmbH provided insights into their work.
Long-term trends and challenges of the post-covid era in focus
In his opening speech, Losbichler referred to a “historic upswing” expected by economic researchers after the pandemic: “Managers and controllers ask themselves what measures they can take to master the crisis and emerge stronger from it. Parallel to the immediate crisis management, it is important to prepare for the time afterwards and to develop strategies for the upturn,” said the ICV Chairman. “With our Congress program we are clearly looking ahead and providing impetus for corporate practice.”
Losbichler added: “We are concerned more than ever with the question of how to proceed and how the restart will look like. The planning security required on all sides will not be there.” Now, after the “brief tunnel vision of crisis management”, the focus is on long-term trends and challenges of the post-covid era, “with the central issues of digital transformation and sustainability.”
In the 45th edition of the Controller Congress, the digital event platform offered the controlling experts and managers the opportunity to exchange ideas with the tried and tested intensity. “Exchanging experiences is particularly important in uncertain times like today,” emphasized the ICV Chairman and expressed his great pleasure at the large number of participants. The more than 400 participants could only look enjoy a successful online Congress with a lot of variety and input. They can still view all the content of this year’s Congress “on demand” up to and including May 15 and thus have a clear advantage over the usual face-to-face meeting: For the first time, they can experience all of the topic clusters taking place in parallel.
Robert Bosch GmbH wins the Controlling Excellence Award 2021
The ICV Controlling Excellence Award was presented again during the Congress. The Award for the year 2021 went to Robert Bosch GmbH for the concept “Controller of the Future – People make the Difference!”. The technology and service company impressed with the development of new controller roles to support its own transformation. The ICV also recognized a project by A1 Telekom Austria, “Finance Analytics @ A1 Austria”, a process for the introduction of advanced analytics, and the project “Introduction of a Product Lifecycle Controlling in the KUKA Robotics Segment” by KUKA Deutschland GmbH.
After the Congress is before the Congress
Preparations for the next big meeting of the European controlling community are already under way. The 46th Congress of Controllers takes place on May 9/10, 2022, if possible again in Munich. The Jury of the ICV Controlling Excellence Award is also ready for new applications. The closing date for applications for the 3,000-euro award is January 31, 2022.
