Shawn Pauer und Erik Lüerß sind die diesjährigen Gewinner des ICV Newcomer Awards. Auf der ICV Herbsttagung CIS Controlling Insights Steyr wurde das Siegerduo für die gemeinsame Abschlussarbeit „Success Factors in the Implementation of Machine Learning Algorithms in Financial Forecast Processes“ ausgezeichnet.
Prof. Dr. Utz Schäffer und Prof. Dr. Marko Reimer begleiteten die Bachelorarbeit der beiden Studenten der WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management. Die ICV Newcomer Award Jury mit Prof. Dr. FPSA Nicole Jekel, Susann Prof. Dr. Erichsson, Prof. Dr. Solveig Reißig-Thust, Christina Keindorf und Gunnar Elbers legte bei der Entscheidung besonderen Wert auf die vier Aspekte wissenschaftliche Fundierung, praktische Relevanz, Innovationsgrad und direkte Umsetzbarkeit.
Der Laudator und stellvertretende ICV Vorstandsvorsitzende Matthias von Daacke zeigte sich ebenfalls beeindruckt: „Sie haben mit Ihrer Forschung einen wertvollen Beitrag geleistet und einen wichtigen Einblick in die erfolgreiche Implementierung von Machine Learning in der Finanzprognose geliefert!“.
Mit seiner Masterarbeit „Die Zukunftsthemen des Controllings in österreichischen Großunternehmen“ hat sich Daniel Mitterlehner den zweiten Platz gesichert.
Antonia Schukraft ist die Drittplatzierte. Sie hat sich dem Integrativen Performance Management gewidmet.
Der mit insgesamt 4.000 Euro dotierte ICV Newcomer Award wird von Haufe und der Haufe Akademie gesponsert.

Shawn Pauer and Erik Lüerß are this year’s winners of the ICV Newcomer Award. At the ICV Autumn Conference CIS Controlling Insights Steyr, the winning duo was honored for their joint thesis “Success Factors in the Implementation of Machine Learning Algorithms in Financial Forecast Processes”.
Prof. Dr. Utz Schäffer and Prof. Dr. Marko Reimer accompanied the bachelor thesis of the two students from WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management. While making the decision the ICV Newcomer Award Jury with Prof. Dr. FPSA Nicole Jekel, Prof. Dr. Susann Erichsson, Prof. Dr. Solveig Reißig-Thust, Christina Keindorf and Gunnar Elbers placed particular emphasis on the four aspects of scientific foundation, practical relevance, degree of innovation and direct feasibility.
The laudator and Vice Chairman of the ICV Board Matthias von Daacke was also impressed: “You have made a valuable contribution with your research and provided important insight into the successful implementation of machine learning into financial forecasting!”
Daniel Mitterlehner secured the second place with his master thesis “The future topics of controlling in large Austrian companies”.
Antonia Schukraft is on the third place. She focused on integrative performance management.
The ICV Newcomer Award, worth a total of 4,000 euros, is sponsored by Haufe and the Haufe Akademie.
