Dieses Jahr lockte der Congress der Controller noch mehr Experten und Expertinnen aus der Unternehmenssteuerung nach München. Der Einladung zur 48. Ausgabe folgten 550 Teilnehmende, die sich am Montagmorgen im Kongress-Hotel „The Westin Grand“ versammelten. Pünktlich eröffnete der ICV Vorstandsvorsitzende Prof. Dr. Heimo Losbichler den 48. Congress der Controller und begrüßte das Auditorium im vollbesetzten Ballsaal. Im Anschluss dankte er allen Sponsoren, die dieses Event unterstützen, und nannte ATVISIO Consult und smartPM.solutions als Hauptsponsoren des ICV Controlling Excellence Awards.
„Ich möchte keine Montagmorgen-Depression auslösen, aber die wirtschaftliche Stimmung im Land ist schlecht“, hob Prof. Dr. Heimo Losbichler in seiner Rede hervor. Um jedoch mit positiven Nachrichten entgegenzuwirken, stellte er das Congress-Motto „Business Performance durch Controlling Excellence“ genauer vor und rief alle anwesenden Controller und Controllerinnen zur „Willingness to Fight Back“ auf. Als Business Partner der Unternehmen sind sie aufgefordert, sich den aktuellen Herausforderungen mit allen Mitteln zu stellen.
Nach der Eröffnung gehörte die Bühne den ersten Keynotespeakern. Donya-Florence Amer, Member of the Executive Board, CIO|CHRO bei der Hapag-Lloyd AG, gab einen Einblick in das maritime Unternehmen und stellte vor, welche Bedeutung das Datentracking in der heutigen Zeit hat. Der Titel ihres Vortrags: „KI oder hält uns lebenslanges Lernen fit für Veränderungen“. Die nächste Rednerin beschäftigte sich ebenfalls mit der künstlichen Intelligenz. Dr. Susanne Beckers, AI Strategy Expert bei SAP, zeigte auf, welche Einsatzmöglichkeiten die KI im Controlling hat. Auch sie hob die Bedeutung von internen und externen Daten hervor.
Insights aus der Praxis teilte im Anschluss Dr. Tobias Braun, Finanzvorstand der Benteler International AG. In seinem Vortrag rückte er finanzielle Steuerungssysteme in den Fokus. Er führte aus, dass diese nur in einem gut abgestimmten Zusammenspiel mit der gewählten Organisationsform und der Kultur des jeweiligen Unternehmens eine Wirkung entfalten können. Das Thema „Controller of the Future” präsentierte Sven Grandi, CFO der Bosch Service Solutions. Während seines Vortrags ging er in den Dialog mit einem von KI erstellten Controller und sprach mit ihm über die Skills der Zukunft.
Ein besonderes Highlight des Congress der Controller folgte direkt auf die Keynotes: die Verleihung des ICV Controlling Excellence Awards. Die begehrte Auszeichnung sicherte sich das Technologie- und Dienstleistungsunternehmen Bosch. Jury-Leiter Prof. Dr. Utz Schäffer übergab die Trophäe an Henri Cetanos, Dr. Marco Möhrer und Patrick Hehl für die Lösung „my Green Businnes“. Das Unternehmen nahm bereits 2018 und 2021 den Award entgegen und hat in diesem Jahr somit das Triple geschafft. Wir gratulieren dem Siegerteam.
Die ebenfalls Nominierten, Vetter Pharma Fertigung und Österreichische Post AG, hatten auch die Gelegenheit, ihre Projekte dem Publikum vorzustellen.
Nach der Award-Verleihung nutzen die Teilnehmenden die Mittagspause für intensives Networking – so gab es zum Beispiel auch einen lebhaften Austausch über die nominierten Lösungen. Der Nachmittag gehörte den Themenzentren: „Gamechanger KI“, „Nachhaltigkeit und Controlling“ und „Europa im globalen Wettbewerb“.
Das Themenzentrum A – Gamechanger KI – moderiert von Vorstandsmitglied Markus Steiner, bereicherten sechs Experten mit Insights aus der Wirtschaft und Wissenschaft. Prof. Dr. Robert Knappe von der Hochschule für Wirtschaft und Recht (HWR) Berlin und Prof. Dr. Thomas Winter von der Berliner Hochschule für Technik sprachen über die Implementierung von Predictive Analytics im Controlling. Das Referenten-Duo präsentierte Ergebnisse aus einem Kooperationsprojekt mit dem ICV. Auf „Künstliche Intelligenz in Planung und Analyse“ fokussierte sich Prof. Dr. Karsten Oehler in seinem Vortrag. „Naht ein Quantensprung“ fragte der Chief Solution Advisor von SAP. Dr. Carsten Bange, Geschäftsführer der BARC GmbH, hatte einen Vortrag mit dem Titel „Mit künstlicher Intelligenz zu „Autonomous Finance?” im Gepäck und nahm mögliche Einsatzgebiete unter die Lupe.
ICV Vorstandsmitglied Claudia Maron war erneut die Gastgeberin des Themenzentrums B – Nachhaltigkeit und Controlling. Zunächst bat sie FH-Prof. Dr. Christoph Eisl von der FH Oberösterreich Studienbetriebs GmbH an das Rednerpult. Der Professor für Controlling widmete sich der Gestaltung interaktiver Nachhaltigkeit-Dashboards in Power BI. Unter anderem stellte er Muster-Dashboards für die Industrie vor. Die Deutsche Telekom war auf dem 48. Congress der Controller durch die Referentinnen Silke Thomas, Lead Sustainable Finance & ESG Performance Group Corporate Responsibility, und Naime Ersöz-Koc, ESG Lead Group Controlling, vertreten. Die Kolleginnen widmeten sich dem Thema ESG und erörterten die Potenziale für Reporting und Steuerung im Controlling. Dr. Moritz Bassemir, Managing Director / Valuation Advisory Services bei der Kroll GmbH und Reinhard Fitz, Head of International Business Development bei der Doppelmayr Seilbahnen GmbH, rückten “Klimarisiken und Unternehmensbewertung” in den Fokus. In ihrem Beitrag gingen sie unter anderem darauf ein, wie sich Klimarisiken auf fundamentale Konzepte der Unternehmensbewertung auswirken.
Prof. Dr. Christoph Binder, Mitglied des ICV Kuratoriums, führte durch das Themenzentrum C – Europa im globalen Wettbewerb. Dr. Giulia Mennillo Dozentin für Wirtschafts- und Sozialpolitik sowie Nachhaltigkeit an der Akademie für Politische Bildung Tutzing war die erste Referentin. „Never let a good crisis go to waste“ war der Appell ihres gleichnamigen Vortrags, in dem sie sich auch mit der Industriepolitik auseinandersetzte. „China, Indien – und wir?“ fragte, Prof. Dr. Manuel Vermeer, Dozent, Gründer, und Inhaber von Dr. Vermeer Consult, und lieferte darüber hinaus geostrategische Hintergründe für mögliche Standortentscheidungen.
Prof. Dr. Heimo Losbichler eröffnete auch den zweiten Tag des 48. Congress der Controller. Der erste Speaker auf der großen Bühne im Ballsaal war Edgar Walk, Chefvolkswirt bei Metzler Asset Management, und fragte „Ist die Inflation gekommen, um zu bleiben?“. Die Teilnehmenden erfuhren viele Details über die Zinspolitik der EZB und über Aktienmärkte.
Auf den ersten Redner des Tages folgte ein Premiere auf dem Congress der Controller: die Verleihung des Péter Horváth Green Controlling-Preises. Prof. Dr. Heimo Losbichler, ICV Vorstandsvorsitzender, und Prof. Dr. Reinhold Mayer, Vorstand der Péter Horváth-Stiftung, baten Guido Kessener von der TUI AG auf die Bühne, um die Auszeichnung in Empfang zu nehmen. Der internationale Touristikkonzern erhielt die renommierte Auszeichnung für das Projekt “TUI Net Zero 2050 – Green Controlling sichert Erfolg der TUI Nachhaltigkeitsstrategie”.

„Mutig in die neue Controlling-Arbeitswelt“ – das ist das Motto von DI Helmut Hotter , Director Controlling bei A1 Telekom Austria AG. In seiner Keynote nimmt er das Auditorium mit auf eine Lernreise und stellte vor, wie das Unternehme im Rahmen von New Work die Arbeitsbedingungen und -strukturen verändert hat, um den Anforderungen der modernen Zeit gerecht zu werden. Auch ein KMU war bei dieser Congress-Ausgabe vertreten. Magister Johannes Hubert-Reiter, CFO der Löffler GmbH, sprach über die Nachhaltigkeitsstrategie des Unternehmens und gab einen Einblick in die Produktion des Textilherstellers.
Insights aus einem Großkonzern teilte die CFO von Daimler Truck Financial Services Eva-Marie Lander. Sie berichtete vom „Performance Steering in einer Strategischen Transformation“ und nahm das Auditorium mit auf die „Road to CO2-neutral Transportation“.
In seinen Abschlussworten dankte Prof. Dr. Heimo Losbichler für die zahlreichen Inspirationen der Referierenden und zudem dem Congress-Team sowie allen Beteiligten, die das Geschehen außerhalb des großen Ballsaals gestaltet haben, den zahlreichen Ausstellern und Sponsoren. Des Weiteren verwies er auf das Datum für den nächsten Congress der Controller, der 2025, im 50. Jubiläumsjahr des ICV, am 28./29. April stattfindet.

This year, the Congress of Controllers attracted even more experts from corporate management to Munich. The invitation to the 48th edition was accepted by 550 participants who gathered on Monday morning in the Congress hotel “The Westin Grand”. The ICV Chairman of the Board Prof. Dr. Heimo Losbichler opened on time and welcomed the auditorium to the packed ballroom. He then thanked all sponsors who support this event and named ATVISIO Consult and smartPM.solutions as main sponsors of the ICV Controlling Excellence Award.
“I don’t want to trigger Monday morning depression, but the economic mood in the country is bad,” Prof. Dr. Heimo Losbichler highlighted in his speech. However, in order to counteract this with positive news, he presented the Congress motto “Business Performance through Controlling Excellence” in more detail and called on all controllers present to be “willing to fight back”. As business partners of companies, they are called upon to face the current challenges using all means possible.
After the opening, the stage belonged to the first keynote speakers. Donya-Florence Amer, Member of the Executive Board, CIO|CHRO at Hapag-Lloyd AG, gave an insight into the maritime company and presented the importance of data tracking today. The title of her lecture: “AI or lifelong learning keeps us fit for change”. The next speaker also dealt with artificial intelligence. Dr. Susanne Beckers, AI Strategy Expert at SAP, showed what possible uses AI has in controlling. She also emphasized the importance of internal and external data.

Insights from practice were then shared by Dr. Tobias Braun, CFO of Benteler International AG. In his lecture he focused on financial management systems. He explained that these can only have an impact in a well-coordinated interaction with the chosen organizational form and the culture of the respective company. The topic “Controller of the Future” was presented by Sven Grandi, CFO of Bosch Service Solutions. During his lecture, he entered into a dialogue with a controller created by AI and talked to him about the skills of the future.
A special highlight of the Congress of Controllers followed directly after the keynotes: the presentation of the ICV Controlling Excellence Award. The technology and services company Bosch secured the coveted Award. Head of the Jury Prof. Dr. Utz Schäffer handed over the trophy to Henri Cetanos, Dr. Marco Möhrer and Patrick Hehl for the “my Green Business” solution. The company already accepted the Award in 2018 and 2021 and has achieved the triple this year. Congratulations to the winning team.
The other nominees, Vetter Pharma Fertigung and Österreichische Post AG, also had the opportunity to present their projects to the audience.
After the Award ceremony, the participants used the lunch break for intensive networking – for example, there was a lively exchange about the nominated solutions. The afternoon was dedicated to the topic clusters: “Gamechanger AI”, “Sustainability and Controlling” and “Europe in Global Competition”.
The topic cluster A – Gamechanger AI – moderated by Board Member Markus Steiner, was enriched by six experts with insights from business and science. Prof. Dr. Robert Knappe from the Berlin School of Economics and Law (HWR, Hochschule für Wirtschaft und Recht) and Prof. Dr. Thomas Winter from the Berlin University of Technology (Berliner Hochschule für Technik) spoke about the implementation of predictive analytics in controlling. The speaker duo presented results from a cooperation project with the ICV. Prof. Dr. Karsten Oehler focused on “Artificial Intelligence in Planning and Analysis” in his lecture. “A quantum leap is approaching,” asked SAP Chief Solution Advisor. Dr. Carsten Bange, Managing Director of BARC GmbH gave a lecture entitled “Using artificial intelligence to create “autonomous finance?” and took a close look at possible areas of application.

ICV Board Member Claudia Maron was once again the host of topic cluster B – Sustainability and Controlling. First she asked FH Prof. Dr. Christoph Eisl from the FH Oberösterreich Studienbetriebs GmbH to the stage. The controlling professor dedicated himself to designing interactive sustainability dashboards in Power BI. Among other things, he presented sample dashboards for the industry. Deutsche Telekom was represented at the 48th Congress of Controllers by speakers Silke Thomas, Lead Sustainable Finance & ESG Performance Group Corporate Responsibility, and Naime Ersöz-Koc, ESG Lead Group Controlling. The colleagues addressed the topic of ESG and discussed the potential for reporting and management in controlling. Dr. Moritz Bassemir, Managing Director/Valuation Advisory Services at Kroll GmbH and Reinhard Fitz, Head of International Business Development at Doppelmayr Seilbahnen GmbH, focused on “climate risks and company valuation”. In their contribution, they discussed, among other things, how climate risks affect fundamental concepts of company valuation.

Dr. Giulia Mennillo, lecturer for economic and social policy and sustainability at the Academy for Political Education in Tutzing (Akademie für Politische Bildung Tutzing), was the first speaker. “Never let a good crisis go to waste” was the appeal of her lecture of the same name, in which she also dealt with industrial policy. “China, India – and us?” asked Prof. Dr. Manuel Vermeer, lecturer, founder, and owner of Dr. Vermeer Consult, and also provided geostrategic backgrounds for possible location decisions.

The first speaker on the big stage in the ballroom was Edgar Walk, chief economist at Metzler Asset Management, and asked “Is inflation here to stay?” The participants learned many details about the ECB’s interest rate policy and stock markets. The first speaker of the day was followed by a premiere at the Congress of Controllers: presenting the Péter Horváth Green Controlling Award. Prof. Dr. Heimo Losbichler, ICV Chairman, and Prof. Dr. Reinhold Mayer, Board Member of the Péter Horváth Foundation, invited Guido Kessener from TUI AG onto the stage to receive the Award. The international tourism group received the prestigious award for the project “TUI Net Zero 2050 – Green Controlling ensures the success of the TUI sustainability strategy”.

“Be brave while enting the new controlling working world” – that is the motto of DI Helmut Hotter, Director Controlling at A1 Telekom Austria AG. In his keynote speech, he took the audience on a learning journey and presented how the company has changed working conditions and structures as part of New Work in order to meet the requirements of modern times. A SME was also represented at this edition of the Congress. Magister Johannes Hubert-Reiter, CFO of Löffler GmbH, spoke about the company’s sustainability strategy and gave an insight into the textile manufacturer’s production.

In his closing words, Prof. Dr. Heimo Losbichler thanked the speakers for the numerous inspirations and the Congress team as well as everyone involved who organized the event also outside the large ballroom, the numerous exhibitors and sponsors. He also referred to the date for the next Congress of Controllers, which in the 50th anniversary year of the ICV, takes plance on April 28/29, 2025.
