„Augenöffner-Themen“ beim CC2021: Digitalisierung, Agilität, Strategie "Eye-opening topics" at the CC2021: digitization, agility, strategy

“More than a successful premiere” – that’s how the Chairman of the ICV International Association of Controllers, Prof. Dr. Heimo Losbichler, summarized the 45th Congress of Controllers on April 26/27 organized by the ICV as an online event for the first time. In order to hold this largest controlling conference in Europe online, but not as “another online event like there are many others”, the ICV has invested a lot of money in organization and technology. In harmony with first-class topics and speakers, it was possible to organize a highly professional and also entertaining 2-day Congress. Professor Losbichler explains this in an interview that he gave to the Performance Manager Podcast immediately after the end of the Congress. The conversation (in German) led by Peter Bluhm, Managing Director Atvisio Consult GmbH, is online on the ICV website (CLICK).

When asked about the content-related résumé for “eye-opening speeches”, Losbichler names three focuses that the Congress has set in 2021. Firstly, it became very clear that digitization “has definitely arrived in operational practice” and that the Congress offered a large variety of successful projects. As a second, “more surprising” point, the ICV Chairman mentions that “agility” was thematized in almost all of the speeches, which was “massively” accepted in corporate practice. There it is “no contradiction at all to classic planning in controlling”, says Losbichler, “if you do it right and dovetail with the planning”. Losbichler identified “strategy” as the third “eye-opening topic”: “In the company presentations, valid strategies were spoken of, in which the basic direction is given, not despite VUCA, but because of VUCA ”, the strategy is emphasized as more important than ever before.

Professor Losbichler sees other Congress focus points in new organizational concepts in controlling and sustainability as a “mega-topic”: The Congress also “opened eyes” and demonstrated “which possibilities digitalization creates in terms of sustainable management, for example through provision of data that we did not have before, and that we can use to save resources”.

When asked about next year’s Congress (May 9/10, 2022), the ICV Chairman stated that he would like the 46th Congress of Controllers to be a face-to-face event in Munich: as a “glamor and glory” event for the controlling community that you absolutely want to be part of personally. For this, the ICV will take new and successful things from the “more than successful online premiere”, said Losbichler. This includes the significantly increased online interactivity of participants and speakers and the possibility for Congress guests to follow the content with a time delay, which is an advantage, for example, in the three parallel, high-quality topic clusters.
