Thema „Unternehmensbewertung“ startet durch The topic of “Business Valuation” takes off

In the ICV, the topic of “business valuation” is taking off for good reasons at the moment. “Business valuation as a means to (controlling) purpose” – this is the motto of the relaunch of the ICV expert work group Business Valuation, for which Prof. Dr. Robert C. Schmidt and Christian Bramkamp gave an exciting kick-off on May 19. At a public ICV Live Webinar: “Business Valuation for Controllers” on June 18 (2 p.m. – 3 p.m.), Prof. Dr. Stefan Behringer, member of the ICV expert work group, explains “what every controller should know about company valuation”.

The Head of the Expert Work Group Prof. Dr. Robert C. Schmidt (picture), iu International University of Applied Science, sent us this information on a successful restart: The expert WG Business Valuation, which has been inactive since 2019, has resumed its work under new management and a changed focus. In the future, the legal, tax or accounting aspects of a business valuation should continue to be taken into account, but be less in the foreground. Rather, the goal is to understand the business valuation as a means to the (controlling) purpose and thus to influence or improve decisions in companies. Already at the kick-off it became apparent that the thematic reorientation is generating great interest and is in tune with the times: The participants – representatives from companies, universities, consultants and auditors – lively discussed possible priorities. It was quickly agreed to first create the theoretical and regulatory basis in order to then take a closer look at possible implications of business valuation for controlling. The topics should always first be considered theoretically but then directly assessed in practice by representatives from the field. The expert WG will meet monthly for shorter virtual work sessions. In addition, a longer video conference will take place every quarter, in which a specific focus topic will be dealt with. The thematic prelude is an excursus on the history of business valuation and its influence on today’s application. In addition to the meetings, the expert WG will offer a forum for its members in which both discussions and the exchange of best practice templates etc. will be made possible.
