Gegründet wurde BARC 1999 als Spin-off des Lehrstuhls für Betriebswirtschaftslehre und Wirtschaftsinformatik an der Julius-Maximilians-Universität in Würzburg. Zunächst begann alles mit einer wissenschaftlichen Evaluierung von BI-Werkzeugen und dem Ziel, Käufern mit der eine BI-Software eine unabhängige Entscheidungsgrundlage zur Verfügung zu stellen. BARC präsentiert nicht nur seine Technologieexpertise, sondern bringt diese auch in das Themenzentrum B, Digitalisierung ein. It all started with a scientific evaluation of BI tools and the goal of providing buyers with one BI software with an independent basis for decision-making. With this vision, the leading analyst firm for business software is also present as an exhibitor and as a participant at the 46th Congress of Controllers on May 9 and 10 in Munich.
