Mehr als 90 Teilnehmende bei einer Präsenzveranstaltung: Das 8. Chinesisch-Deutsch Controlling-Forum am 11. September hat sich im Corona-Jahr 2020 als Erfolg erwiesen.
Während Unternehmen in der westlichen Welt angesichts der anhaltend instabilen Lage in der COVID-19-Pandemie weiterhin das Krisenmanagement fokussierten, schienen im Spätsommer die meisten deutsch-chinesischen Wirtschaftsunternehmen dank entspanntem Pandemiestatus in China zur Normalität zurückzukehren. Diesen Eindruck teilte der ICV-Partner in China, Dr. Zhen Huang (Bild oben links), mit. Hier ein Auszug aus seinem Bericht zum 8. Chinesisch-Deutschen Controlling-Forum, das am 11. September in der 10-Mio.-Einwohner-Stadt Suzhou als Präsenztagung stattgefunden hat:
China erlebt eine Erholung des Tagesgeschäfts, auch wenn Leute noch Mund-/Nase-Schutzmasken tragen und die Gesundheitskontrollen an den Landesgrenzen nach wie vor sehr streng bleiben. So verlief das Forum am 11. September „eigentlich ganz normal“, als Offline-Event, sogar sehr gut. Mit mehr als 90 lag die Teilnehmerzahl zwar etwas niedriger als die im Vorjahr, aber angesichts der besonderen Situation in diesem Jahr ein guter Erfolg. Das Sino-German Controlling Forum hat sich als Plattform für Information, Kommunikation und Erfahrungsaustausch zwischen Finanz- und Nicht-Finanzmanagern sowie Controlling-Fachleuten bewährt.
Geopolitik als größtes Risiko
Niemand konnte vorhersagen, dass 2020 das Jahr von COVID-19 sein würde. Nicht nur der Gesundheitssektor, sondern die gesamte Wirtschaft hat ernsthaft gelitten. Während wir in China ermutigende Anzeichen für eine Erholung und Stabilisierung beobachten, gibt es in anderen Teilen der Welt immer noch viele Krisenherde, die sich auf die Marktnachfrage und die Lieferketten auswirken. Darüber hinaus haben die verschärften Spannungen in den Beziehungen zwischen den USA und China die Besorgnis vieler Entscheidungsträger und Investoren verstärkt. Können wir in China noch Geschäfte wie im letzten Jahrzehnt machen? Oder müssen wir uns in den kommenden Jahren auf eine neue Normalität vorbereiten?
Während des Controlling-Forums fand auch dieses Jahr eine Ad-hoc-Umfrage statt. Mehr als 60% gaben an, ihre Hauptaufmerksamkeit bereits auf andere Risikofaktoren als die Pandemie verlagert zu haben. An erster Stelle nannten sie die Auswirkungen zunehmender geopolitischer Spannungen zwischen den USA und China.
Die Keynote zur Eröffnung sprach Mr. Xin Li, Head of Corporate Finance, Head of Brand Controlling Volkswagen Pkw & Head of Finance Skoda bei Volkswagen Group China (VGC) (Bild unten links). Er beschrieb die besondere VUCA-Situation des chinesischen Pkw-Marktes und hob die Bedeutung des Controllings für die nötige Transparenz für erfolgreiches Management und die Effizienz gerade in der Corona- wie auch in der Post-Corona-Zeit hervor. Er stellte das Integral Planning & Simulation Project (IPSP) seines Hauses auf Basis von SAP HANA vor. Integration und Digitalisierung erweisen sich angesichts der großen Komplexität als höchst herausfordernd. Gerade in wirtschaftlich schwierigen Zeiten, müssen Controller in der Lage sein, Transparenz zu schaffen und die Entscheidungsträger zu unterstützen, rasch richtige und wirksame Maßnahmen zu ergreifen. Neben Fragen des Systemwechsels mit der Digitalisierung betonte der Redner die Bedeutung von Ressourcen, Kompetenzen, Motivation und Rollenverständnis der Controller.
ICV-Vorstandsmitglied Claudia Maron, Head of Governance, DATEV eG, eröffnete online zugeschaltet den Nachmittagsteil des Forum mit ihrer Keynote, „Management der aktuellen Krise und die Rolle der Controller“ (Bild, oben rechts). Dabei stellte sie ebenso Ergebnisse der ICV-Ideenwerkstatt vor, in der sie am Themenschwerpunkt „Krisenmanagement“ mitarbeitet, wie auch die Ergebnisse von zwei Blitzumfragen des ControllerPanels der WHU in Kooperation mit dem ICV zur Krisenbetroffenheit. Die ICV-Ideenwerkstatt hat z.B. die aktuellen und noch kommenden Krisenbewältigungsphasen beschrieben und aufgezeigt, was diese einzelnen Phasen prägt und welche Rolle die Controller spielen, um diese Phasen in ihren Unternehmen erfolgreich zu meistern.
Auch die 8. Ausgabe des Chinesisch-Deutschen Controlling-Forums hatten die Shanghai De Chen Enterprise Management Consulting Co. Ltd. Und die Deutsche Außenhandelskammer in China organisiert. More than 90 participants at a face-to-face event: The 8th Sino-German Controlling Forum on September 11 has proven to be a success in the corona year 2020.
While companies in the western world continued to focus on crisis management in the face of the persistently unstable situation in the COVID-19 pandemic, in late summer most Sino-German companies seemed to return to normal thanks to the relaxed pandemic status in China. This impression shares the ICV partner in China, Dr. Zhen Huang (picture above left). Here is an excerpt from his report on the 8th Sino-German Controlling Forum, which took place on September 11 as a face-to-face conference in the city of 10 million people Suzhou:
China is experiencing a recovery in day-to-day business, even though people are still wearing face masks and health controls at national borders remain very strict. The forum on September 11 went “actually quite normally”, as an offline event, even very well. At more than 90, the number of participants was slightly lower than last year, but given the special situation this year it was a success. The Sino-German Controlling Forum has proven itself as a platform for information, communication and the exchange of experiences between financial and non-financial managers as well as controlling experts.
Geopolitics as the greatest risk
Nobody could predict that 2020 would be the year of COVID-19. Not just the public health sector, but the entire economy has suffered seriously. While we observe encouraging signs of recovery and stabilization in China, there are still many trouble spots in other parts of the world that are affecting market demand and supply chains. In addition, heightened tensions in US-China relations have increased concerns of many policy makers and investors. Can we still do business in China like we did in the last decade? Or do we have to prepare for a new normal in the years to come?
This year, too, an ad hoc survey was organized during the Controlling Forum. More than 60% said they had already shifted their main attention to other risk factors other than the pandemic. In the first place, they mentioned the effects of increasing geopolitical tensions between the US and China.
The opening keynote was given by Mr. Xin Li, Head of Corporate Finance, Head of Brand Controlling Volkswagen Passenger Cars & Head of Finance Skoda at Volkswagen Group China (VGC) (picture bottom left). He described the special VUCA situation of the Chinese car market and emphasized the importance of controlling for the necessary transparency for successful management and efficiency, especially in the corona as well as in the post-corona period. Especially in economically difficult times, controllers must be able to create transparency and support decision-makers in quickly taking correct and effective measures. In addition to questions about the system change with digitization, the speaker emphasized the importance of resources, competencies, motivation and role understanding of the controller.
The ICV Board Member Claudia Maron, Head of Governance, DATEV eG, opened the afternoon part of the forum online with her keynote “Management of the current crisis and the role of controllers” (picture top right). At the same time, she presented the results of the ICV Think Tank, in which she worked on the topic of “crisis management”, as well as the results of two quick surveys by the WHU Controller Panel in cooperation with the ICV on the extent of the crisis. The ICV Think Tank e.g. describes the current and upcoming crisis management phases and shows what characterizes these individual phases and what role the controllers play in successfully mastering these phases in their company.
Shanghai De Chen Enterprise Management Consulting Co. Ltd. hosted also the 8th edition of the Sino-German Controlling Forum. And the German Chamber of Commerce in China organized it. The ICV International Association of Controllers and the CA Controller Academie and other chambers, organizations and companies such as Schaeffler Greater China have provided support.
