Virtuelle ICV-Mitgliederversammlung: Claudia Maron und Markus Steiner neu im Vorstand Virtual ICV General Meeting: Claudia Maron and Markus Steiner new in the Board

The virtual ICV General Meeting 2020 on May 28 was a successful premiere: For the first time it took place online, with over 130 participants, without glitches, including several votes and elections. A trend-setting pilot event: The ICV has taken another important step in digitization. Claudia Maron and Markus Steiner were newly elected to the Board as successors to Siegfried Gänßlen and Karl-Heinz Steinke.

The virtual ICV General Meeting lasted around 90 minutes, with a competent moderation by ICV Chairman Prof. Dr. Heimo Losbichler, supported by FH-Prof. Mag. Dr. Albert Mayr and other helpers in the background.

At the beginning, the ICV Chairman reported on the business year 2019 and gave an outlook for 2020. Losbichler focused on the diverse engagement in the Association, the extensive services, member development and international activities. He particularly emphasized the acquisition, processing and dissemination of controlling knowledge, and referred to publications such as “Integrative Corporate Management” from the ICV publication series and to the “Think Tank Quarterly”. Studies with Roland Berger, SAP and Qvantum were also important contributions in 2019 as well as webinars by the expert work groups and as part of the ICV Digitization Offensive. Regular podcasts from the ICV expert work groups and in collaboration with the Performance Manager Podcast and FINANCE TV were appreciated. In the online area, the Chairman emphasized the ICV ControllingWiki, which again counted over 1 million visitors in 2019.

Increases in the number of event participants and corporate memberships

The ICV held 14 conferences in 2019, including the 44th Congress of Controllers as the flagship and the traditional regional conferences. The total number of participants rose slightly again from 2,180 to 2,361 compared to the previous year. The number of university collaborations also increased further. Losbichler referred to the “ICV Service Portfolio” poster developed in the previous year, which offers a very good overview of the remarkable range of services offered by the ICV.

In terms of membership development, Losbichler had good things to say about the corporate memberships. 45 new companies were added and the 200th threshold was exceeded for the first time. The Association had 6,268 individual memberships at the end of 2019. Losbichler explained the slight decline compared to 2018 with the tedious process of cleaning up the statistics. Losbichler said that it remains an urgent task for the Association to continue to gain individual members.

Determining the course for further development

Determining the course of how the ICV will develop is the focus of the Board’s work. Nine Board meetings – in person and by telephone – took place in 2019. The Board continued the development work on the Strategy Process (2020-2023-…). As an insight, Losbichler presented to the General Meeting a transformation map. The Management Conference in November 2019 provided important impulses for this: development of the offer for corporate memberships and young professionals, focus on digitization, sustainability, paid content and micro-certificates.

In his outlook for 2020, Losbichler focused on supporting members in the corona crisis. He referred to webinars by expert work groups, the Controller Panel and Roland Berger, online seminars and virtual work group meetings. As a special help for the ICV, Losbichler paid tribute to the creation of the audio book “Controlling Career Bible”. ICV corporate member Ativisio gives the entire sales revenue to the ICV.

The report from the ICV Board of Trustees followed the Management Board report. Prof. Dr. Jürgen Weber thanked the departing members Dr. Wolfgang Berger-Vogel and Dr. Richard Lutz and announced the handover the baton to Christina Keindorf and Siegfried Gänßlen, who were available for election during the Meeting. At the same time, information was given about the new management of the Board of Trustees: Prof. Dr. Utz Schäffer succeeds Prof. Dr. Jürgen Weber, Pauline Seidermann succeeds Dr. Richard Lutz as his deputy.

ICV Managing Director Carmen Zillmer presented then the 2019 financial report with a good balance sheet and the 2020 budget prepared in January. In view of the corona crisis onset, she presented the IS April 2020 and a forecast December 2020 with scenarios. Details are available online in the member area of the ICV website.

This was followed by the auditor’s report and various statements before the General Meeting went to the elections. The meritorious members Siegfried Gänßlen – Chairman of the Board for many years – and Karl-Heinz Steinke were given farewell. Claudia Maron and Markus Steiner were introduced as candidates for their successors.

Claudia Maron: 56 years, 3 children, 1 grandchild; Master of Economics and Social Sciences, Controlleŕs Diplom CA; DATEV eG: Head of Governance Department (since 2018), Business Administration (2012-2018), Head of Business Planning (2003-2012), Team Leader Invoicing (1996-2003); ICV: Delegate Germany South (since 2017), Head of WG Franken (2013-2017), expert work group Risk Management (since 2016), expert work group Green Controlling (2013-2017), expert work group BI / Big Data and Controlling (2017-2018), expert work group Modern Budgeting (2007-2011), Green Controlling award winner (2016)

Markus Steiner: 40 years, business computer scientist (Diplom Univ.), Head Business Reporting & Controlling – Alpiq AG, Switzerland; ICV: Member since 2010, Head of WG Berne (2013-2015), Head of WG Zurich-Eastern Switzerland (2015-2017), Delegate Switzerland (since 2018)

The General Meeting elected the Board with the new members with an overwhelming majority.

The election of the Board of Trustees for the period 2020-2022 was equally clear. As successors to Dr. Wolfgang Berger-Vogel and Dr. Richard Lutz Christina Keindorf (Diplom Betriebswirtin, Deutsche Bahn AG: Head of Group Controlling) and Siegfried Gänßlen (Diplom Betriebswirt VWA. ICV Board Member 2005-2020, ICV Chairman of the Board 2007-2018, former Board Member Hansgrohe SE) were elected.

Honors for longtime members

The traditional high point at the end of the ICV General Meeting every year: For 45 years of ICV membership, Dr. Dr. h.c. Albrecht Deyhle, Erwin Helffenstein, Dr. Erwin Küchle and Rudolf Rieger were honored. The 40 years of membership: Eberhard Schwarz, Dr. Lukas Rieder and Rolf Erismann were honored. 20 members were honored for 30 years of the ICV membership.

(The next General Meeting takes place on the eve of the 45th Congress of Controllers on April 25, 2021 in Munich.)
