There has to be a bit of fun - also in controlling!

Controlling and fun – there are currently two prominent representatives for the ICV, namely Alexander Gedat and Albrecht Deyhle! Both are convinced that only enthusiastic controllers are excellent controllers!

Alexander Gedat (picture above) shows what fun has to do with performance management at the 45th Congress of Controllers on April 26/27 (online event, in German). In the opening speech in the topic cluster with the same name, he focuses on the question of “How you can enjoy change with controllers – and why strengthening strengths are so valuable in controlling”. Gedat has been the interim CEO of Gerry Weber International AG since February 2020, having already been appointed Chairman of the Supervisory Board. Before that, the business administration graduate and enthusiastic skier played a key role in the development of Marc O’Polo as CFO. There he witnessed the development from 45 to 2,000 employees and in an interview with the executive coach Pia Michel said about this time: “I love working with people and inspire them to try something new”. It is possible that a serenity and greatness are inherent in his enthusiasm that not many executives have, because “Employees who can do more than you do yourself advance the company and also me personally”, Gedat is convinced (you can find the link to the interview with Pia Michel You at the bottom of the article).

For Gedat it is therefore clear: The cliché of the fun-free number cruncher is still common for controllers. In the short interview “3 questions to Alexander Gedat”, he tells us why this is, why it urgently needs to be changed and how this can be achieved.

Everyone who knows the ICV and the Controller Akademie knows that things can be done differently and in the contrary to all clichés and that this has been the case for many decades: The personified fun in controlling, commitment and further education shows Dr. Dr. h.c. Albrecht Deyhle, who is 87 years old on May 12 this year and is one of the founding fathers of the International Association of Controllers. He is undoubtedly one of the most thrilling speakers of all time – and that also far away from controlling. It is not for nothing that many companions and former students congratulated him very emotionally on his 80th birthday in the ICV ControllingBlog https://blog.icv-controlling.com/albrecht-deyhle-zum-geburtstag. For everyone who would like to see Albrecht Deyhle again or for those who have never seen Albrecht Deyhle live, here is a hot tip: He is also one of the speakers at the 45th Congress of Controllers on April 26/27, 2021. We reveal more about Dr. Deyhle’s speech at the congress next week.

Until then you can register here as a participant for the Congress – because, as the ICV Chairman Prof. Dr. Heimo Losbichler says in the current podcast interview on the opening page of the Congress: There may not be many opportunities to experience the exceptional speaker and charismatic motivator Albrecht Deyhle on stage.
